Boxing becomes sport of princes
BOXING does not customarily attract royal patronage but cheering enthusiastically ringside were Princes William and Harry at a charity boxing tournament and ball on Saturday night.
Among those taking part at the Boodles Boxing Ball was the princes’ friend Hugh van Cutsem, a financial consultant, who beat Huw Williams, a Cambridge University boxing Blue. Mr van Cutsem, who had never boxed competitively before, had been training hard for the event, which also featured four other amateur matches.
Kate Middleton, Prince William’s girlfriend, was among the guests at the £100-a-head black-tie event at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, London. A charity auction, with prizes including a trip to New York, raised £70,000 for the paediatric medical research charity Sparks. The event was organised by James Amos, a family member of Boodles jewellers.
